A future Commercial Development from Turner Development, LLC.

Introducing Western North Carolina's Applied AgTech Innovation District
The concept of creating a new tech corridor to attract Agri-food and AgTech companies is supported by two recent reports prepared by the research firm RTI Innovation Advisors, including one for Dogwood Health Trust, "Opportunities for AgriFood Tech in Western North Carolina". WNC is uniquely positioned to take the lead in food and agricultural technology, and this project is just the beginning.
Developer Robert Turner is a science writer and author of numerous books and articles on new technologies in agriculture. Learn more at www.roberteturner.com

Project Overview
Most of the buildings in this image are owned by Turner Development. The Agri-food corridor is already a reality with 7 tenants in related food and AgTech businesses, with the goal of attracting more companies working to improve on farm and supply chain efficiencies. Our most recent projects include a commissary kitchen to support food trucks and value added food producers.

A Home for Ag Science
We anticipate this development focus to become a hub for climate smart farming research and a shared learning space that will build the connections between AgTech research and regional farmers, and including classes and conferences organized by groups such as Organic Growers School (Mr. Turner co-chairs the board of directors and owns a 50 acre organic farm).
Featured Tenant
AgTech Startup Spider Tractor
The new startup company Spider Tractor designs battery operated eTractors for small to medium sized farms looking to improve efficiency and reduce the harmful effects of pesticides in food production. The technology can help farmers capture a larger share of the organic and sustainable food market by greatly increasing production capacity and reducing labor costs. The company promises a suite of technology, equipment and implements to radically improve small farm efficiency. The company principal has a masters degree in chemistry with a focus on battery technology and five years of experience managing a lab at a large battery tech company before starting the new venture.
